Winter Training
is scheduled to begin in just 2 weeks after mid term exams on Monday Jan. 27 and run for 8 weeks prior to the beginning of the Spring Crew season. As has been previously explained, this Winter Training session is MANDATORY for Spring rowers not participating in another winter sport. We will be training weekly on Mon-Thurs. There will be NO TRAINING on FRIDAYS this year. Online Registration is OPEN. We have 22 girls registered thus farIf you have not registered yet, please make sure you do so by Tuesday Jan. 21 prior to the Preseason meeting!  And if you are not participating in Winter Training, we ask that you please notify us (see email buttons below). Please see our Mercy Crew website for complete details and online registration (see details and link button below).

Please note there is a slight correction to the days for the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Tanks for the Winter Training session. We will practice there on Thursdays prior to Winter Break only and then will move to Tuesdays after Winter Break as shown below:

  • Jan 30 – Feb 13 – Thursdays, 5:45 – 7:15 pm
  • Feb 25 – Mar 24 – Tuesdays, 7:30 – 8:45 pm

Please remember that next Tuesday, we have scheduled the PreSeason Parent & Athlete Information Meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 6:30pm in the Mercy Cafeteria. This is a Mandatory meeting for all Spring rowers/ parent. There the coaches, board and functional chairs will discuss important information and exciting changes about the upcoming winter training and spring season.

Mercy Sports Boosters requests that each Mercy Athletic Team volunteers to work the Admissions and Concessions tables for at least 1 home volleyball or basketball event this year.  Mercy Crew has been assigned to the JV & Varsity Basketball games on Friday, Feb. 7 at 6:00 and 7:30 pm respectively.  Volunteering for a game typically requires at least 5 people per game (any combination of student-athletes or parents) to cover the admission table and the concession tables. We are requesting athlete and/or parent volunteers to assist. Please see the full details and SignUp Genius link below.

Thank you to Daniela Casciani-Moldoch for creating the beautiful flyers for Winter Training as seen below. Help us spread the word to other Mercy girls that might be interested in grades 8-12. Click the image and link below for the PDF and to print or send to someone.

Sarah Jakubek is the school Athletic Trainer and she is a resource for everyone on this team.  If you have an old injury or muscle related problem you have not addressed, please speak with Ms. Jakubek.  She can assess your issue and provide injury prevent information and exercises. Taking the month of January to be proactive will prevent further problems or injury during the rowing season.

Over the course of the past year Mercy Athletics has been required to transition all sports teams to the Mercy “M” logo and navy & white colors with only Carolina blue accent where desired. We have changed our logo beginning this past fall and now due to spring racing requirements that require all rowers to be in the same uniform, we will now fully transition our current navy & pink uni’s and visors/hats to the navy & Carolina blue. This will allow us to work with Sew Sporty to have group discounts and free shipping in place. Also, due to the burden of this transition, Mercy Athletics has offered to give us $500 to offset the total costs to our families. Uniform Coordinator, Gina Mastrosimone, has been working on these details and will discuss them further at the parent meeting. The ordering window for both Spring & Fall rowers for these discounts and to allow ample time to process our order in time for the spring season will be Jan. 27 – Feb. 3.

Clearing your clutter after the holidays? Mark your calendars and be sure to continue to save your donation items for the Mercy Crew Garage Sale on Saturday, March 7! This is our largest annual fundraiser and we will require all hands on deck to volunteer the for Friday setup and the day of the sale to make it a success! Be sure to spread the word to family, friends, neighbors and in your social media that we will be accepting donations for the sale and to please come to the sale. EarlyBird entry the day of the sale for a small fee will also be available again this year. Remember, someone’s unwanted items are Mercy Crew’s treasure! Please contact Alisia & Duncan Chase at with questions. See below for further details.

We have (3) Board Positions that will be vacated due to graduating senior parents currently in the roles after this spring. We need your help to fill these vital positions. Working with the coaches, the Mercy Crew Board meets once per month to oversee and guide, in alignment with the Mercy Crew bylaws, the administrative decisions and finances for the Mercy Crew team. Please consider the role and feel free to contact any current board member with any questions or interest in the role.

Coming soon! We will be sending out the annual Mercy Crew Parent and Rower Surveys this week. Please be on the lookout for it and be sure to consider sharing your thoughts so that we may continue to improve Mercy Crew.

We are still in need of a volunteer to fill the role as Corporate Sponsorship Coordinator. For more information or If interested, please contact Scott Steron at

Thank you!
