Coach Karen

Karen has always had a love of the water. As a teenager, she was a competitive swimmer at Penfield High School and as an adult turned that love into being on the water instead of in it. Karen began rowing in 2007 and started competing in 2008. Some of the regattas she has competed at include the Canadian Henley, Masters Nationals, Master's Worlds, Head of the Schuylkill and Head of the Charles. Last year she became a proud owner of a single and is enjoying the independence of sculling. She is a US Rowing Level I Certified Coach.

Karen and her husband, George, own the marketing and design firm, Fusion Reactions. She holds a BFA in graphic design from RIT. She has two sons - Ethan, a senior at McQuaid and Austin, a freshman at Bishop Kearney.

Karen's other interests include kettlebell training, bicycling, cross-country and downhill skiing, kayaking and backpacking. One of her all-time favorite jobs was being a bicycle tour guide with Timberline Adventures based in Denver, Colorado.
